DRAXIS is a rapidly growing company based in Thessaloniki. Its mission is to develop comprehensive environmental technology and IT solutions, and to provide specialized consulting services on environmental matters.
To support its continuous growth, the company is seeking an experienced Finance & Accounting Manager to join its executive team. This key role bridges daily accounting operations with overall financial strategy, overseeing compliance, reporting, budgeting, and risk management to ensure the organization’s financial health.
The position
The successful candidate will be based at the company’s offices in Thessaloniki. More specifically, his/her duties will include:
- Supervising daily accounting activities, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, account reconciliations, and tax obligations (e.g., VAT, myDATA compliance)
- Leading the month-end and year-end close processes (cost cut-off), producing accurate balance sheets, and preparing comprehensive financial reports for the Board of Directors
- Managing the end-to-end cycle of internal and external audits (both corporate and project-related), liaising with national tax authorities, external auditors, and EU bodies
- Executing corporate financial tasks, such as budgeting, cash-flow forecasting, risk management, and providing sound financial guidance to support business growth
- Collaborating with the dedicated project management team to oversee the financial aspects of EU-funded projects (e.g., Horizon Europe)
- Elaborating and improving processes, procedures, reporting tools, and internal controls for financial management activities
- Ensuring the correct implementation of national accounting standards and EU Financial Regulations, while following and maintaining ISO 9001 & 14001 processes.
Your profile
In order for you to be able to successfully carry out the duties of the job, you should possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 -10 years of progressive experience. The ideal candidate must have a strong hands-on background in corporate accounting or accounting firms (handling VAT, ELP, myDATA, year-end closings) and have successfully transitioned into a Finance Management or Controlling role
- Holder of a B’ or A’ Class Accountant’s License
- Deep understanding of corporate finance, financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting
- Proficiency in ERP systems, accounting software, and advanced use of spreadsheets
- Excellent command of both written and spoken English
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to the Board of Directors and non-financial stakeholders.
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with the Financial Management of Research Projects (National & European, e.g., Horizon)
- MBA or a Master’s degree in a related field
- Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, ΣΟΕΛ, or CMA.
